Abstract

The relationship of sport facilities to the social, political, cultural and economic environment in which they are implanted is explored using data collected, via closed questionnaire, in 1986 from sport facilities in the 17 Autonomous Communities of Spain, as well as from analyses of secondary statistical data. Results contribute to a theory of the relationship between sport, space and social organisation, as well as suggest new methodological perspectives for research in this field. © 1993, Sage Publications.
