Brief description ot the activity

My research experience started in the consolidated Cibersomosaguas research group after obtaining my bachelor's degree in Sociology and while pursuing my Master's degree in Sociocultural Analysis of Knowledge and Communication. Since the beginning, his academic interests reflected a dedication to understanding the complex interplay between society and technology, predominantly cantered on one side on the dynamics of free software, collaborative knowledge, and open culture; and on the other side, in the use of Online Social Networks to perform social analysis, and in the analysis of communities in Online Social Media. In 2015 I started as adjunct professor in the Department of Philosophy and Society at UCM, where I taught Ethics and Science, Technology and Society. During these years of teaching and researching at UCM, I participated in several national and international projects, addressing a spectrum of topics from political discourse analysis on Twitter to the application of big data methodologies in social research and gender studies (i.e. FEM2015-65834-C2-2-P, H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015, PID2020-113054GB-I00). In 2017 I made a 3 months pre-doctoral research stay at Middle East Technical University (Turkey) focused on violence against disabled women in Social Media. I finished my PhD dissertation in 2018, which delves into the production and dissemination of knowledge in scientific journals and the importance of Open Access.

Following my interest in mixing Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and social analysis, in 2021 I change my affiliation to Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and I joined to the AI+DA (Applied Intelligence and Data Analysis) to enhance these research interests, and to develop innovative frameworks for understanding online subjectivity/objectivity, particularly through the lens of social media analysis utilizing state-of-the art Artificial Intelligence tools and computational techniques. Since then he has contributed to projects such as MARTINI, IBERIFIER, and XAI-DisInfodemics, where his roles have ranged from interdisciplinary coordination; the analysis of machine learning models for the detection of disinformation; the use of Artificial Intelligence and social Sciences techniques for improving the understanding of political polarization or the discourses of toxic communities.

In all this time, I have published more than 20 research papers, in several International Journals, and from a wide range of disciplines (Sociology, Philosophy, Social Work, Communication, and Computer Sciences). I participated in more than 30 International Conferences, 3 as Keynote speaker, and been part of 5 European Founded projects, 5 National Plan, and 7 regionals, all of them competitive. As part of the interdisciplinary profile, Im currently associate editor of 2 International journals: Springler-Nature Social Sciences Journal, and Anales del Seminario de Historia de la Filosofía. This background, and the current projects in which I am participating, are allowing me to deepen the participation of teams that innovate in the use of Artificial Intelligence for social analysis. Proof of that is that I am currently co-directing a total of 2 doctoral theses, which are due to be read in 2024 and 2025.
