Brief description ot the activity

I got my bachelor degree in Materials Engineering in 2014 at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. I did my final degree project at the Instituto de Sistemas Optoelectrónicos y Microtecnología (ISOM) laboratory, where I studied the optical properties of quantum dots of InAs/GaAs with a capping layer of GaAsSbN and their applications as light emitting diodes.

In 2015, I obtained my Master degree of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). During this period, I did the Master project in the Instituto de Ciencias de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC). It was focused on the synthesis and optical, structural and electrical characterization of transparent conductive oxides, and ended up in a publication in a Q1 peer-reviewed scientific journal.

In 2016, I was awarded with a grant from the Minister of Spain of Economy and Competitiviness under the Formación del Profesorado Investigador (FPI) program to start a PhD in the Microelectronics and Semiconductors group of the Applied Physics department of the UAM, under the supervision of Dr. Jose Luis Pau Vizcaíno and Dr. Andrés Redondo Cubero. My thesis was mainly focused on the development and characterization of plasmonic gallium nanoparticles and its performance improvement to serve as biosensing platforms of different analytes. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to stay at the University of Alabama (EEUU) for 3 months thanks to a bilateral colaboration. There, I worked in the growth of 2D materials and their hybridization with plasmonic nanoparticles.

I obtained my PhD in Physics in December 2018 in three years with the maximum calification of Cum Laude and the International Mention. During my doctorate I have gained a complete knowledge and wide experience of solid state physics and optoelectronic devices based on metals and semiconductors for applications in communications, food and sensing.

Overall, I have 12 publications, 11 in peer-reviewed scientific journals index by JCR and 1 conference proceeding, plus 1 more article already submitted to JCR journals in 2020. In addition, I have contributed to 10 international conferences, mostly with oral presentations. I have been involved in 6 different granted research projects that regard different areas of applied physics. My h-index is 4 (total citations 63).

In december of 2019, I have finished my first postdoctoral position in the Microelectronics and Semiconductors group of the UAM as an ongoing of the FPI fellowship. In connection with a new national project, my research was focused in the development of biosensor platforms based on low dimensional materials with application to the detection of breast cancer biomarkers.

Nowadays, I work for the Instituto de Energía Solar (UPM) in the group of Silicon and New Concepts. My duties are related to the characterization and fabrication of silicon photovoltaic cells.

Lastly, I would like to emphasize that I am committed to the public dissemination of science as well as teaching to students. I usually attend science seminars and try to disclose our merits in divulgative media.
